Born in England, Malcolm Rains emigrated to Canada in 1955. After studying architecture at the University of Toronto and University of Detroit Mercy, he completed a degree at the Ontario College of Art, with a concentration in sculpture. His work, which ranges from austere still life studies to total abstraction, has its roots in classical Greek art, architecture and mythology.
