M. Rains Biography
(1947)
Born in England, Malcolm Rains emigrated to Canada in 1955. After studying architecture at the University of Toronto and University of Detroit Mercy, he completed a degree at the Ontario College of Art, with a concentration in sculpture. His work, which ranges from austere still life studies to total abstraction, has its roots in classical Greek art, architecture and mythology. Throughout his career, Rains’ work has been exhibited extensively across Canada at institutions such as the Art Gallery of Ontario, the Art Gallery of Hamilton, the Winnipeg Art Gallery, and The Power Plant.
